President's Message
Winter 2023/24
While another year of quality CE offered by the NEMSC comes to a close, I wanted to take a
moment to introduce myself as the most recently appointed President of the NEMSC. To begin
with I know that I have big shoes to fill, especially having to take the reins behind
Dr. Eric Gladstein.
As a way of introduction, I am now the senior doctor of a legacy practice in Central Maine.
My retired original dental partner, Dr. Peter Laliberte, was a member of the first New England
Mastertrack. Through his mentorship early in my career, I was encouraged to pursue leadership
and involvement in the AGD and strive for both Fellowship then Mastership in the lifelong
journey of professionalism. I was a member of Track 8 and received Mastership shortly after
completing the program. Over the years I have enjoyed mentoring two younger partners as we balance
two locations. I’ve been proud to have served on all Board positions for the Maine AGD over the
years and hold the ideals of AGD close to heart.
I am committed to help lead the NEMSC in the years to come in order to provide unparalleled
Continuing Education experiences for our members and look forward to working together with the
Board to continue to grow our membership and increase participation at the courses we sponsor.
At a recent Board meeting, we voted to increase membership dues to $100 for the upcoming renewal.
With costs increasing for most things these days, including the direct costs of our non-profit,
we find it necessary to make this modest change.
Also, please “save the date” for our next course which will be March 15-16, 2024 with Dr. Dewitt
Wilkerson of the Dawson Academy. Details will be available after the New Year.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve in this capacity.
Jay R. Wietecha DMD,MAGD
President, NEMSC
